This week U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan outlined the Obama Administration’s higher education priorities in its remaining 18 months. The focus will be on degree completion and educational quality.
Calling for changes in the incentives to institutions, Secretary Duncan laid out plans to call for fundamental changes to how colleges are held accountable.
One expected proposal would offer, in broad terms, greater risk-sharing for all parts of the system including institutions, states, and accreditors. This proposal supports the Administration’s overall goal to shift the conversation toward outcomes.
